Constipation
| Chronic constipation can be treated effectively by making some lifestyle changes such as; increasing fluid intake, increasing your daily intake of fibre and getting more exercise. Oral laxatives may also be effective in treating constipation, there are different types. Bulk forming laxatives such as ispaghula husk (fybogel) and methylcellulose add bulk to make stools softer and easier to pass. Glycerin suppositories have a direct softening effect. Docusate sodium (dulcoease) is a stool softener making passing easier. Senna (ex lax, senokot) and bisacodyl (dulcolax) are stimulant laxatives and tend to be the fastest acting.
