Diarrhoea
| Acute diarrhoea is usually caused by a viral or bacterial infection and affects almost everyone from time to time. It usually clears up in a couple of days and is not serious. You can avoid becoming dehydrated by drinking lots of fluids, rehydration products contain a combination of salts and glucose to replace those lost via diarrhoea (dioralyte). Loperamide slows contractions of intestinal muscles and is considered treatment of choice it is available in a few different formulations (imodium, imodium plus, imodium instants).
