Get Smooth Glowing Skin For Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is drawing nearer. Whether you’re single and planning to hit the town with the girls or if you’ve booked a table for 2 at a fancy restaurant for you and your partner, you will want to make sure that you’re prepped and preened and looking your best.

Valentine’s Day is an excuse to get out the posh frock, book a hair appointment, get a manicure and/or have your makeup professionally applied. Beauty is, in my opinion, all about inner confidence and feeling happy in yourself. For me, makeup and beauty treatments are about celebrating your body, skin and hair and making the most of what you’ve got. Feeling good about yourself is strongly linked to confidence and self-esteem, so if you know you look fabulous in that LBD and killer heels with perfectly coiffed hair and glowing skin then you are sure to have a fantastic night out.

Dewy looking skin is reflective of youth and a healthy lifestyle. Emulate that beautiful glowing effect with my top tips.

Exfoliate – an important step that a lot of girls miss out, especially before applying tan. If you want the sunkissed look, then to fake it well, you need a good quality tan but crucially, smooth exfoliated skin. Use exfoliating gloves with a body scrub. Concentrate around the knees, ankles and elbows.

Tanning – there really is no excuse for streaky tan with the multitude of excellent formulas now on the market. Go for a spray tan if you’re feeling flush but a decent tan from your local pharmacy will work just as well. Apply with a tanning mitt in circular motions.

Moisturise well – body butter is great for nourishing the skin around your knees and ankles. Use it all over for gleaming skin and apply body shimmer on your décolletage, arms and legs if you want to really create that glowing effect.

Don’t forget your face – exfoliate and moisturise, just as you would the rest of your body. Begin prepping your skin a good week before heading out by using an intense cream like the La Roche Posay soothing care cream for face and eyes.

Prep your lips – get them smooch-ready with lip scrub and lip balm! Before you start applying your makeup, use a lip scrub to gently exfoliate and remove any bits of dead skin and then follow with a moisturising lip balm. Start applying your makeup whilst the lip balm gets to work. By the time you’re reaching for the lipliner and lipstick, your lips will be feeling smooth and looking luscious.

Whatever you get up to on Valentine’s Day, have a fun time getting ready and enjoy a wonderful evening!
